Data Management Plan (DMP)

A Data Management Plan (DMP) is a document which defines how data is handled throughout the lifecycle of a research – how data will be collected, processed, analyzed, described, preserved, and shared. A DMP is a living document that will require regular review and revision throughout your research project.

There are 5 components of DMP:
i. Types of data that will be produced or collected
ii. Data and metadata standards
iii. Policies for access and sharing
iv. Policies for re-use and distribution
v. Plans for archiving and preservation
