A Data Management Plan (DMP) is a document which defines how data is handled throughout the lifecycle of a research – how data will be collected, processed, analyzed, described, preserved, and shared. A DMP is a living document that will require regular review and revision throughout your research project.
There are 5 components of DMP: i. Types of data that will be produced or collected ii. Data and metadata standards iii. Policies for access and sharing iv. Policies for re-use and distribution v. Plans for archiving and preservation
