USIM Open Science

USIM Open science is a movement aimed at making scientific research, data, and dissemination accessible to all levels of society, from professional researchers to interested amateurs. The core principles of open science include transparency, reproducibility, inclusivity, and accessibility.

Overview

The foundation of Open Science at USIM began with Open Access initiatives led by the university library. USIM developed an open access repository platform to allow researchers to deposit their research outputs and make them publicly accessible. The goal was to ensure research findings from USIM could be freely accessed and shared with the public, supporting knowledge dissemination and collaboration. This repository later became known as the USIM Research Repository, which stores publications such as articles, theses, conference papers, and reports.

Pillars

Citizen Science

Citizen Science involves the public in the research process, where non-professional scientists contribute to data collection, observation, or analysis, helping to bridge the gap between academia and society.
