Fair Data

“As open as possible, as closed as necessary”

FAIR Principles
The FAIR principles for research data management illustrate best practice for sharing open data.

  1. Findable
Data and metadata are easily findable by both humans and computers. Usually this task is enabled by machine-readable persistent identifiers and metadata.
  2. Accessible
Data can be retrieved using the outlined protocols
  3. Interoperable
System can be used with other tools
  4. Reusable
Data is well-defined and can be used for different purposes and in different settings (under properly defined licences and properly cited)
